Winter is Here?

Winter is blasting many areas of the country, although we haven't had our typical snows yet here in the Front Range foothills. We have had cold enough temperatures to form this stained-glass covering on the water trough, though!

Just like fame, though, "icework" is fleeting. Our critters weren't as entranced as I was with the floating canvas, so within minutes of taking these photos, I plugged in the-contraption-that-saves-me-so-much-work-in-the-winter, and the ice crystals were history.
